Cropped challenge #1

Ok, so I am participating in the Cropped Mystery Box Challenge Event. This is my first entry. Meeting challenge #1. We were required to do a masking technique modeled after Megan Elizabeth's sunset card in either style or technique. I chose the technique of the masking. Hopefully my card fits the request. I'm a little nervous, my card is so different from the other submissions.

Anyway, since I typically make cards to send to Operation Write Home I wanted to follow the challenge guidelines but also do something that would meets the size requirements of 4.25 x 5.5 for the charity. This was my first try at any type of masking technique. I love the way it came out. I hope you feel the same!

Materials:
pigment inks
masking product by inkadinkadoo
perfect pearls - ice white
Martha Stewart punch - Aspen Snowflake
Sentiment -Lili of the Valley A5 set 4 Merry Christmas

OWH Blog Skip - Pizzazz

Here's my card for the OWH Blog Skip. For my pizzazz I chose the star burst sketch, embossed the solid card stock, sand papered it to bring out the pattern and used gold and silver pearl pen around the sentiment. I also stitched a zigzag pattern to give it a little extra pizzazz.
I hope you enjoy!

OWH- Sketch challenge #134

These are the last two to fill my box of 100 cards that will go to OWH! I'm so excited to send it and get started on my next box that will contain Christmas cards!
Nothing special about these, just some clean and simple cards using some colored images I had waiting just for them. The Dumbo image was something I found online as a coloring page that I shrunk down and the one on the right is a stamped image from Lili of the Valley Stamps. I used scraps from my stash and the sentiments are from Megan Elizabeth's Alpha stamp set.

Our Daily Bread Designs August Challenge

Our Daily Bread Designs is hosting a challenge of masculine cards during the month of August.  For each 25 cards, they will pay the postage for one box of cards to be shipped  through Operation Write Home to our heroes.  So cool!   For some reason I lost my mojo when it came to making a masculine card. The last few cards I've made were more masculine so it took me a while to come up with. I think between thinking about it, looking at papers ( not one patterned paper seemed just right and that's shocking since most of us know, we all have WAY TOO MUCH patterned paper lol), choose a die-cut and putting it all together-it totaled 3 hours on and off for several days. Still not totally happy with it but it's done!

Materials:
Divine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder
sentiment printed from a word document
EK success punch -  PSN E Braid
Fish cut from Cliff's Clubhouse Cards  SVG Kit - www.svgcuts.com
staples
olive green ink on edges of fish
dimensional adhesive to raise fins on fish

OWH Card Challenge- Sketch 132

My inspiration was the sketch 132 from Operation Write Home and the Lili of the Valley Stamp.  Everything else fell into place.

Materials:
Lili of the Valley Stamp - By the River (image and sentiment-just for you)
Copic & Spectrum Noir Markers
Tan hemp cord
sand paper
Star Border embossing folder by Darice
Starry Night punch by EK Success

I embossed the paper and brought out the pattern by using the sand paper.

OWH Card Challenge- Sketch 131

I was originally thinking of doing this card for the Our Daily Bread challenge but I realized this card was really more for a kid and not a masculine card so I'm looking forward to making a card for that challenge but as I got going I really enjoyed seeing this card come to life.

Materials:

  • paper layers paper for the beaver cut from "Create A Critter" Cricut cardtrigde cut at 2 1/4 inches
  • Patterned papers from the DCWV The Green Stack
  •  jute cord by Cousin in black
  • sentiment using the letters from  Hampton Art which I got on Cleareance at my Local Michaels store
  •  Inkadinkadoo embossing powder on the sentiment in Bronze
  • embossing folder by Darice called Wood Grain.
I tried to ink the embossing folder to add some pattern to the sentiment card stock but it didn't really show. I'll have to watch a UTube video on how to use your embossing folders to stamp patterns on paper. lol

OWH Card Challenge -Sketch 130 Patriotic Theme

So Sandy mentioned soldiers like sending out patriotic themed cards. I thought I would try making a red, white and blue card using the 130 sketch. I also picked up my first yards of MayArts ribbon. OMG! Sandy you were so right! The ribbon is delicious! It's so funny new that I make cards for OWH instead of looking for papers and embellishments for my scrapbooking pages I always am looking for items that would fit for making A2 sized cards. lol I get so much more use out of my brads, embossing folders and ribbon. Also, I found these patriot sdemensional stickers in various July theme shapes at my local Wal-mart for 50% off. Just 0.75 each package! hoohoo! i immediately thought of OWH!

Just Because cards

I made these cards as a way to de-stress after along day at work. I used the Martha Stewart "French Scroll" punch around the page punch, a tag from Gypsy Wandering Cricut cartridge, I stitch the card on the left with gold threading in a zig zag pattern and used ribbon I picked up at my local Michaels Store. For the tag i stamped the background in a fall design in green using a stamp from Inkadinkadoo "Foliage Trails" set and the sentiment is from the Sandylion Kelly Panacci "friends" set. I also inked the edges of the tag using Studio G pigment ink in brown.
