CMM-Patriotic Get Well

Welcome to Card Making Monday! Today's card has a patriotic theme but not a 4th of July sentiment. I'm trying to think out of the box when it comes to the red, white and blue. In the past I've made some red white and blue cards for various themes and you can find links to some of those posts at the bottom of this post. But for today's card I made a Get Well card for my step son who absolutely loves everything government and/or presidential.

I masked off some stars and then stamped with the paint splatter stamp from MTF. I used stamps from the same set for the stripes. I saw this type of card on an Operation Write Home YouTube video where they were showcasing some different cards that card makers had donated to the organization. I them modified it to fill the right side with lots of get well wishes.

I hope you like my variations of a patriotic them card and think outside of the box for yourself and come up with some creative and beautiful red, white and blue cards!

Father's Day-DAD

Good Morning and Happy Thursday! Today's Using My Tools post will also double as Father's Day inspiration. The stamp I am using is from the Stampin Up set called, Traveler. Because this card is for Dad I kept the palette more masculine by using browns and blues.

I had not used this camera stamped image yet and the lettered sticker tiles I've had for almost 2 years. It's so funny how we are so inspired in the craft store and know that we know in our hearts we will put something right to use and well....not so much. In any case they fit just right for this card. My dad was a photographer in the navy for 42 years and was a collector of vintage cameras so I often saw cameras in our garage and attic that looked just like this one.

I used some distressing and inking around the edges to define the imnage and add interest.

I hope you enjoy your Father's Day and find some time to make something Beautiful!

CMM-Balloon Fun

Good Morning and Welcome to Card Making Monday!

Today I am going to showcase a card I made using a tutorial from Jennifer McGuire. You can find the video here. and also under my tutorial tab page. I just thought these cards were so cuter so I had to sit down and make them!

I don't have the dies Jennifer uses but I do have a Cricut machine. I cut a 5.5 inch circle using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge out of various  colored card stock, cut the circles in half and then trimmed one side to fit the width of the card. It worked like a charm and I got 10 cards out of the whole process!

I wanted a little shimmer so i sprayed some pearl dust on the balloons. In the picture the pink and red balloons seemed a bit heavy on the shimmer but they don't look that way in real life. I think the shimmer caught the light in the camera flash.

I hope you enjoy these card and visit Jennifer's YouTube video and try it yourself. It's a fun card that way quick to assemble.

UMT-Joy Fold Masculine Get Well

Good Morning and Happy Thursday! Welcome to my blog and I hope you find crafty inspiration! On Thursdays I post crafts, cards, or layouts using tools I have neglected. I've either used stamps, embellishments, tools or some  other item that has been tossed to the waist side on my craft desk or put in a drawer for a while. Today I am showcasing a retired stamp from Stampin Up. The set is called, "Provencal"

I've needed to build up my masculine stash of cards so I've been mainly focusing on those lately. I kept the color palette neutral for this card. I hope you like it!

I used a Joy Fold technique for this card. You can find the tutorial on my tutorial page, Just scroll down until you find the tutorial for Joy Fold cards.

Here's a look inside and at the card partially open

I hope you enjoyed my card posting and finds inspiration to try a Joy Fold card for yourself. They are quite easy to assemble and look so impressive!
