UMT - Star Windows

Hello and welcome to today's Using My Tools Thursday post where I take some type of tool, paper or embellishment that has fallen to the waist side of my craft room and put it to good use. Today's items: My Cricut cartridge and the Stars embossing folder. I so love to use red, white and blue in my card making but there isn't a big demand for 4th of July cards so I try to get creative whenever I can. I have a pretty large stash of  6x6 patriotic paper pads and lots of embellishments so I went to work making this hello card for my nephew.

I set up the star cut outs on my Gypsy (Provo craft doesn't make the gypsy anymore, I will cry if and when it stops working) I love it! I can take it anywhere (like doctor's waiting rooms) and work on projects, no need to be stuck to your PC. Anyway, I love how I can place the items anywhere on the page and use varying sizes.
I use a separate white piece of card stock slightly smaller than the one on top to adhere the different pieces of patterned paper then popped up the white layer with dimensional adhesive. Added the sentiment, twine and the star embellishments.

Supplies
Cricut Cartridge Plantin Schoolbook -star cut outs & tag
Pebbles Americana 6x6 paper pad
Cuttlebug embossing folder Stars
The Paper Studio Spare Parts Silver Stars
Hero Arts  Say it All stamp set

I hope you enjoyed my post today and find time for yourself to make something beautiful!

WW- Cj's matchbox card

Hello Friends! Today I am excited to share with you a fun and unique card technique. Today's project is called a matchbox card. These cards are detailed and take a bit of time but come out so nicely in the end. Over the next several months I'll be showing you a few more matchbox card samples so stay tuned in for upcoming posts of this fun card. Here's today's sample!

Look at what's inside!
Each critter was cut out at between 2 to 3.5 inches

This card is going to my nephew. Normally you could fit a gift card in the back portion but because he is very young and this card is a just because card I am putting a few fruit snack packets in the back as a treat.
I hope you take the time to try this fun technique for yourself. I used a tutorial you can find under my tutorial tab. You can also find an SVG for the box at SVGCuts.com.

Supplies:
Echo Park boy patterned paper
Cricut Create a Critter Cartridge
various Bazzill card stock scraps
Hampton Arts Doodlebug Curley Alphabet stamp set
TPC Studio Hot Air Balloon Collage stamp set

I hope you enjoyed my card sample! Have a wonderful week and now go make something beautiful!

CMM-Chevron embossing

It's Monday and that means I am showcasing my latest card. In tradition of the masculine and clean and simple cards I've been making these are no exception.

Frankly I am amazed at how centered and straight I stamped the sentiment even before I dry embossed the paper! Each one is slightly different. On the card with the gold enamel dots I accidentallyreversed my embossing folder. Ooops, but my  mom tells me she actually likes that one better and of course I like the one with the black enamel dots. Either way, they both work!

Enjoy your Monday and take some time today to make something beautiful!

UMT-Summer Bear Shaker Card

Welcome to my latest Using My Tools Thursday post. Today's tool that has been neglected but yet has been put to good use for today's project is this fun border punch from Martha Stewart. When I began crafting almost 4 years ago I absolutely fell in love with Martha's punch around the page punch sets. I couldn't buy them up fast enough BUT in the last year or so they have, for the most part, gone unused. What a shame I thought, and so I sat down to create a fun kids card using this punch.

I used acetate purchased from Wal-mart and an imaged that i had already colored in by Lili of the Valley stamps.
To complete the shaker i added some small seed beads, sequins and some star shapes sequins for added interest.

Supplies
Quite Contrary Jack and Jill 6x6 Paper pad
Lili of The Valley Deck Chair Dreaming Stamp
Copic Markers
Martha Stewart Border punch Ribbon Loops
Recollections Enamel Dots

If you've never made a shaker card you can find a tutorial under my tutorial tab and several other inspiration examples.
I hope you are inspired to try a shaker card for yourself and take time today to make something beautiful!

CMM- Precious Friend

Welcome to my latest post for Card Making Monday. Today's card is a fun card filled with color and texture and a short post. Just a quick clean and simple design.

I used a dry embossing folder for the texture of the side design and then used my bone folder to draw a line marking the end of the embossing.

I picked up the twine at my local $ store. This twine came in a 3 roll pack! I used a bow tutorial to help me make the perfect small bows. You can find the tutorial under my tutorial tab and some other sample cards using the bow technique.

Supplies:
Cuttlebug folder Baby's Breath
Gina K Designs Sweet Corn Card stock
Gina K Designs White Luxury Card stock for base
White sequins
Colored twine
Inkadinkadoo Expressions sentiment stamp

I hope you enjoyed my card sample! Have a wonderful week and now go make something beautiful!

I just love the details of this card. There is so much to discover!

I love Sara's cute image and how she kept the colors very clasic to let the image shine!

Barb took a blog challenge to use glasses on her card. She coordinated spectical patterned paper with the little girl image in the center. I think she did a great job with this challege!

I love the 3D effect of this card with the roses. Ivolina made them pop by inking the edges. How wonderful!

WW-A Woof Hello

Hello There! I'm so glad you have stopped by! Today I'm excited to show you a fun kids card. It's been a while since I've had the need to make kids cards but I have a great nephew who is almost turning 2 and I'm determined to shower him with handmade cards.

Today's card makes use of a few tutorials I've used over the years. The first is the Window technique or Reverse Die cut and the second is 3D paper piecing. You can find links to video tutorials by clicking on my tutorial tab.

I inked around the edges of the windows using a Q-tip and used colored pencils to color in the dogs.

Supplies:
6x6 Fine and Dandy Boy paper pad
Crayola colored pencils
Recollections Woof Woof stamp set
1 1/2 inch circle punch

I hope you enjoyed my post today and find time for yourself to make something beautiful!

CMM-Lovely as a Tree

Welcome to another post of Card Making Monday. As I have mentioned over the last few months i am attempting to build my asculine card stash. I tend to enjoy making fameinine cards more but send out more masculine cards so there has been a delema. Todays card is no exception and I decided to use a reverse masking technique for this card.
I used tone on tone to keep it simple and the Stampin' Up stamp set Lovely as a Tree

I hope you enjoyed my card sample! Have a wonderful week and now go make something beautiful!

UMT-Formal Floral

Welcome to my latest Using My Tools post. Today's cards showcase a Gina K Designs Stamp.
I have been attempting to practice clean and simple card making and it is harder than it looks. You can cover up a finger print or hide an oops with an embellishment, NOPE! It's back to the drawing board and start over if you mess up. lol
I hope you enjoy my simple floral cards

So I made 2. They a both slightly different. Let me know if you can figure it out! I adapted my second card because of an oops. OK, OK, I'll tell you! lol. The card on the right came out just the way I wanted with a score line just at the edge of the stamping. The card on the right...well...I scored too low and had to put the ribbon above to hide it. :-(
They are both usable cards I just prefer the one on the left.

I hope you are inspired to pull out some stamps you've haven't used in a while and put them to good use.
Happy crafting and have a great week! It's time for me to go make something beautiful!
