With this weekend being President's Day Weekend, OWH is hosting a Virtual Card-Making Party has begun! Every few hours a new challenge will be posted by an OWH blogger.
The first OWH challenge is to use chevrons. The second challenge is to make a kids card with some type of critter. Silly me, I tried to combine the both and spent well over 2 hours trying to master this thing. I struggled big time with this card and in the end I'm feeling like it was a (in the words of my 15 year old) an EPIC fail!
In any case, here it is for better or for worse. Hopefully the other challenges won't feel so daunting.
Materials:
Chevron cut file from SVG.com for the black cheveron on white cardstock
I used the left over negative of the cheveron to stamp in the white ink on the black cardstock
ladybug from Doodlebug cartridge cut at 1.5 inches and layered
google eyes at 7mm
Sentiment stamp from recollections Little Princess
red brads
later that same day.....lol
ok, ok so I never expected this to happen. While making this post The 4th challenge of the day was posted and it is to create a card using something with wings. Well, this card fits 3 of the challenges but I'm not going to miss all the card making fun.
Winged Things Challenge
So in keeping with my ladybug theme since I made a few different ones in varying sizes for the previous challenge I decided to use one on this challenge too.
Materials:
Perfect Paisley Cuttlebug folder
purple ink
Embroidery floss
ladybug from Doodlebug cartridge
perfect pearls for the ladybug spots
Fiskers All Around Quotes
off to tackle dinner and hopefully another card before I say good night.
I got a late start after clearing some snow and heading out for errands and food shopping. I tackled 2 more challenges. 3 and 5.
The third challenge was to create a a card with selective emboss. I anticipated this would be a hard task. The really only hard thing was holding the cardstock still in my cricut.
Materials:
Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments
Recollections Woof
Copic E13, E23, R20, R29
Cuttlebug Baby Breath
Voila Star ribbon
The fifth challenge was to use Sketch 63 but use a complete sheet of 12 x 12. I moved this sketch around a bit and I only used a 6 x 6 of patterned paper but the rest is 12 x 12 bazill cardstock. I had these stamped images that were just about the right dimension and wanted to use them.
Materials:
Lili of the Valley stamp Oops
Copics E23, E13, E00, W5, C3, B24, B00, YG03, YG63
Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments
Challenge # 9- Cream and White
I'm a little behind with posting and completing the rest of the challenge cards. It's now Wednesday and I'm just loading these next 2 photos. I was so excited to see this challenge. I love tone on tone although I don't often do cards or scrapbook layouts of that type. I hope you enjoy and please send a comment your way letting me know what is your favorite part of the cream and white card. Thanks for tsaking a look at my blog.
Materials:
Cuttle Bug Folders - Swiss Dots, Victoria and Celebration Stamp Set
Bazzill cardstock
white & cream ribbon
K&Company Visions of Christmas
Challenge 7 - Coffee & 8-Washi Tape
I ended up combining 2 challenges for this card. I don't frequently make clean and simple cards and I'm not sure you could call this one a clean and simple card. First Challenge 7 was to make a card using a coffe theme. I had a tiny peice left of this coffee beans paper and went right for it. As for the Washi tape in Challenge 8 I was a little more perplexed. I ha've never purchased Washi tape So, I thought some time later in the week I'll march myself to the craft stpores and buy some for this challenge. I did and they didn't have any. Well, thanks to Youtube I found a few tutorials and went about making some. I have a Fiskers stamp set with coffee related stamps so I thought I'll combine the two challenges and make 1 card meeting both requirements. I think the stamp of coffee beans on the tissue tape really fots nicely with the other clean elements.
Materials:
Fiskers Latte Love
Copics- YG63, E79
Colorbox Chestnut
Bazill cardstock
Elmers double sided tape
tissue paper
Challenge # 6-Wheels
Materials:
Bazill cardstock

Hi Misty, Thanks for the gracious complement and the question. I cut an extra cutout of the ladybug wings and adhered them just in the top center, bent them a bit so they would have some movement.
DeleteWonderful group of cards! My fave is the all white card...gorgeous! The whale is super cute! Thanks for playing in the Things with Wheels challenge!
DeleteWonderful cards, Amy. How clever of you to make your own washi tape! And it fits perfectly with your coffee theme; even better! Thanks for playing along with my washi tape challenge. Good luck in the drawing!
